Pidurangala, Sri Lanka

Pidurangala rock is relatively a huge rock (about 200m height) situated almost close to Sigiriya rock. People prefer this rock to have an elegant view of the dawn. Even though it is a huge rock, it's very easy to climb unless you forget to take a water bottle with you. Since the group I was traveling with was staying in Trinco Lagoon, we traveled through A6 road (connects Trincomallee with Ambepussa) and made a turn towards the Pidurangala rock at Habarana junction. To reach the rock, first, you have to travel through a long road in the midst of an elephant forest. I'm not mentioning the elephants to scare the hell out of you but to warn you. Try to be on the top by 6 o'clock if you want to enjoy every moment of the dawn. A Buddhist temple is situated at the entrance of the rock. So, you have to remove your shoes and cover your body while passing that specific area. It won't take more than 30 mins to reach the top. Except for some places, there are steps to climb. Anyway, don't forget to pray for your luck to avoid the mist which might spoil the good sceneries. Once you reach the top, you don't need to be told what to do. You'll find a lot of early birds waiting to welcome the sun with their mobiles and GoPro cams in position. Not only that, you'll find many paw friends running here and there and also a few monkeys. WARNING!!! Don't climb alone. Who'll take the pictures of you??. You definitely need your friends or your partner with you to forget the tiredness of climbing up and down. I don't want to go into detail. I have attached some photos of my visit to Pidurangla for your reference. I'll stop here and let you continue the story on the top. Feel free to share your comments and memories of Pidurangla in the comment box on the home page. Good Luck :)
